Check and repair
The check goes through your library and repairs what is damaged: an item missing from the menus, an unreadable date, a badly saved category. It changes nothing without showing it to you first.
Check and repair Expert
How to
- Settings → Data management, Check and repair tab.
- Click 🩺 Run the check. Nothing is changed: you read the result.
- If repairs are possible, Repair appears. Modula offers a backup first.
The check finds three kinds of things:
| What it finds | What happens |
|---|---|
| A damaged item | Modula can repair it without changing anything you see: Repair takes care of it. |
| A repair to approve | The repair would change a behaviour you wanted — a keyword starting with *, for example. It is only applied with your agreement. |
| A point that depends on you | Two almost identical categories, an overridden keyword: Modula doesn't guess what you want. It is listed in the log, just below, with its button to act, or Ignore. |
When all is well, the check says so: “Nothing to repair: your library is healthy.”
Good to know
A repair can be undone, like any operation, from the History tab. If an item doesn't appear in the right-click menu, run the check before reporting a problem.
The log Expert
Below the check, the 📋 Log opens after each check. It has two parts:
- To sort out — the current state of your library: the points that depend on you, each with its button (Open categories, Edit “…”, Run the check), or Ignore. A point disappears when you deal with it. The number of points to sort out is shown on the tab.
- Past incidents — failures that have already happened: an item the RightClick menu couldn't show, an automatic backup that failed, a licence the server couldn't check. Nothing to do: an incident disappears as soon as the same operation succeeds again, or after 30 days.
Clear incidents only removes past incidents. Copy copies the full log, technical codes included, for a report.
