Data health
Every day, Modula checks up on your library: backup, repairs, duplicates, keywords, categories, bin. It warns you when something deserves your attention, and takes you where it's dealt with. It never changes anything itself.
The check-up Advanced
The check-up appears in the icon menu. It runs again when Chrome starts, once a day, and shortly after each change to your library.
| Point | What it reports | Where it's dealt with |
|---|---|---|
| Backup | a backup to make, a sharp drop to check, a failed automatic backup | Backup |
| Repairs to approve | what the check doesn't fix without your agreement | Check and repair |
| Duplicates | the number of groups: same title, same keyword, same content | Duplicates |
| Keywords | those another one overrides (a keyword several items share shows up under duplicates) | Expander |
| Categories | almost identical names, empty categories | Categories |
| Bin | its content, and the time left before the oldest item is deleted | Bin |
| Incidents | Modula's recent failures on this computer | Log |
Each line has a button (View, Open, Back up) that opens the Options at the right place. Check again runs the analysis on the spot.
Duplicates are counted on every plan; the manager that handles them is Pro only. On the Free plan, that line's button leads to the purchase page.
The ! and i badges Advanced
| Badge | Meaning | Disappears… |
|---|---|---|
| Red ! | a point needs action (backup, repair) | when the point is dealt with |
| Blue i | something new since you last looked (more duplicates, items soon erased from the bin…) | when you open the menu |
The badges appear on the Modula icon, and in the tools, in the same place as the Pro badge: Launcher, Sidebar, Overbar, SelAction. Clicking one opens the check-up.
If the Modula icon isn't pinned to Chrome's toolbar, its badge can't be seen: see Keeping the icon within reach.
The in-page notification Advanced
When the check-up brings a new point, a small notification appears once, at the top right of the page you're viewing. It never appears while you're typing, doesn't take focus, and disappears on its own after a few seconds. Clicking it opens the check-up.
- To turn it off: Settings → Data management, Check and repair tab.
- 🩺 Data health card: untick Show a notification.
The badges stay: they bother no one.
An intentional point Expert
Two categories “Support” and “support” suit you? Ignore the point in the log: it disappears from the check-up too. If the situation changes, it comes back.
