SmartClips
A SmartClip transforms the text you select on a page: it frames it, rewords it, quotes it, and copies the result. It isn't a separate type: it's a SmartText set up in a particular way.
Transforming a selection Expert
A SmartText becomes a SmartClip when it meets two conditions:
- it is set to Copy only (see Copying instead of inserting);
- its content contains the
{{selection}}field, which receives the selected text.
You select some text, you choose the SmartClip: the result is copied to the clipboard, ready to paste.
Content of the SmartClip:
> {{selection}}— quoted on {{date}}
Camille selects “Revenue is up 12%.” in a report, chooses the SmartClip, confirms the suggested date: the clipboard holds the quote, with its date, ready to paste into minutes.
- Create a SmartText and tick Copy only.
- In the content, add the Selection field where the selected text should go.
- Save.
A SmartClip can be triggered from any tool. But the SelAction is where it feels most natural: it appears the very moment you select.
SmartClips in the SelAction Expert
The SelAction can show your SmartClips, sorted by category, above the SmartMails: select some text, choose the SmartClip in the bar that appears.
- Settings → Toolbox, SelAction tab (the tool must be turned on).
- Tick SmartClips in the SelAction.
