The tools

All the tools

Modula gives you six ways to insert your text: the six tools. They all draw on the same library: a SmartText created once is available everywhere. Choose the ones that suit you, and combine them.

One library, six tools Starter

You don't have to file your text “for” a tool. A SmartText is at once in the right-click menu, in the Sidebar, in the Launcher's search and, if it has a keyword, in the Expander. If it is a favourite, it is also in the Overbar.

Example

Camille uses the Expander for her five everyday texts, whose keywords she knows, and the Launcher for the two hundred others, which she finds by typing three letters of the title.

The tools are turned on and set up in Settings → Toolbox.

The Data health signal Advanced

When Data health has something to report, a badge also appears in the tools, in the same place as the Pro badge: at the bottom of the Launcher, in the Sidebar's header and on its icon, at the end of the Overbar, at the bottom of the SelAction.

  • Red !: a point needs action (a backup to make, for example).
  • Blue i: there's something new since you last looked.

Clicking the badge opens the check-up.

Text size in the tools Advanced

The text of the tools — Sidebar, Launcher, Overbar, SelAction, insertion form — follows the Text size setting in the Options. The text inserted into your pages never changes. See Options.

A tool on certain sites only Expert Pro

Each tool can be limited to certain sites, or switched off on certain sites. See Site restrictions.

A tool doesn't appear? Basic

Three causes, from the most frequent to the rarest:

  1. The tool is turned off: its dot isn't green in Settings → Toolbox.
  2. A site restriction applies: the Restrictions line at the bottom of the tool's tab says so.
  3. The page was already open before Modula was installed: reload it.
